Fees
Clear about costs from the beginning
Legal fees shouldn’t be another source of uncertainty.
Where appropriate, Kiro Family Lawyers offers fixed fees for clearly defined pieces of work. You can choose how much — or how little — help you need, and we will agree with you on the work to be done and the cost before we begin. Before commencing work, we will provide you with a costs agreement setting out the scope of the work, the professional fees you can expect to pay, and what is — and isn’t — included. If something changes along the way, we will discuss it with you before undertaking work outside the agreed scope.
Other costs
Some family law matters involve expenses payable to third parties in addition to our professional fees. Depending on your matter, these may include court filing fees, process server fees, property or title registration fees, superannuation fund fees, valuation fees or other expert costs.
Where we know that these expenses are likely to arise, we will identify them for you as early as possible and explain whether they are included in, or additional to, any fixed fee quoted. If a court filing fee applies, we can also let you know if you may be eligible to apply for a reduced fee or an exemption.
The aim is simple: you should understand what you are paying for, what is included, and what the next step is before you commit to it.
